The Kaya Stool is designed to support the most natural and physiologically effective positioning throughout labour & delivery.
How? The Kaya Stool can be used in a wide range of settings and positions, allowing you to respond to your body throughout labour and delivery based on what feels most comfortable and most effective for you. Getting familiar with the positions facilitated by the Kaya Stool will allow you to move more comfortably through them during labour & delivery. After birth it can remain in the home for continued stretching and strengthening as your body recovers after birth
Why? These upright positions, including squatting, kneeling, lunging, and rocking increase the available space within the pelvis and stimulate more effective contractions, and have proven to yield the best health outcomes for you and your baby.
Where? In Hospital. At Home. Even In Water. We designed the Kaya stool to allow for safe use in whatever setting you choose. The single part design is both stable and easy to clean and disinfect, easily meeting hospital standards for safety and infection control. It can even be safely submerged in a tub or pool for use in water.
The total equipment hire cost is £60 with a refundable deposit of £60.
Delivery is included free of charge to all mainland UK addresses only - please check prior to booking before placing an order if you are not on the mainland as we may not ship to your postcode or there may be additional fees for delivery/collection.
We recommend arranging for your KAYA Birth Stool to be delivered for your 37th week of pregnancy, with a typical hire lasting between 3-5 weeks. Though we do not have any additional charges should you need your KAYA Birth Stool for longer we do ask that they are returned to us within 7 weeks to ensure it is available for other families to access.

Hundreds of years ago in Hawaii, the children of royal families would be birthed at sacred sites where large stones were used to aid the mother's positioning during birth. The scene above shows a lap birth where the partner's lap imitates a birthing chair and allows for delivery in a supported upright position.
Whatever the setting, women would be upright, whether squatting, standing leaning, or on their hands and knees. These practices - the intimacy of a woman on her partner's lap, the strength of working with gravity to push through a contraction - greatly informed and inspired the development of the Kaya Stool.
