Mini Birth Pool in a Box - Retired Pool
PLEASE NOTE: Sold, retired pools are not covered by other T&C on our website as all T&C, deposit/refund/cancellation policies are only applicable to our hired items - our main business - please ensure you have read and understood all of the following notes before purchasing a retired pool.
After 15 years of hiring birth pools we have an increasingly large number of pools that are no longer covered by the 40 hire warranty applicable for older models of professional grade Birth Pool in a Box Pro-Pools. We have donated many and sold the larger, Regular retired pools for use as baptism pools but now have many Mini pools requiring new homes.
We only hire professional grade BPIAB pools and as they are guaranteed for 4 years of continuous use or 40 individual hires they are made of stronger, heavier duty vinyl. They have therefore far surpassed their warranties as they have been carefully cleaned and cared for between every hire but due to the terms of our insurance we can no longer offer them for private-hire.
Please ensure you have read the following information before purchasing a retired birth pool as the terms are considerably different to our hire packages as we do not offer refunds or follow up support.
- Retired pools are sold and not hired - we offer no follow up support on the pool purchased. The handbook sent out with all new BPIAB pools will be supplied, not our own handbooks sent with hires.
- We ask that retired pools purchased from our website are not resold or rehired. This is to ensure that only birth pools that meet suitable standards are being used across the UK. One bad experience with a pool in poor condition or that has visible faults can be enough to taint a midwife's experience of supporting a home waterbirth, and can also lead to negative stories about their use. We know this from 15 years of hiring pools and hearing stories directly from customers of damaged pools being sold on or loaned out. For this reason all purchased pools will arrive with the words 'retired pool - not for resale or rehire' written on the side panel & will have the '40 hire' panel crossed out - please see images above.
- All of our pool stock, both current and retired may show signs of wear but are fully inflated for testing before dispatch for between 24-48 hours.
- Some retired pools may have a rounded seat rather than the flat seat in the stock images. This does not affect use and is still comfortable for use, we recommend not over-inflating to allow the seat when using.
- Patches may have been applied to prevent further damage to existing scuffs or to cover stains. Where possible these will be noted or photographed to illustrate before purchase.
- All pools may have replaced floor/seat valves as standard. A set of 1 x spare pool ring valve and 2 x white floor/seat valves will be supplied with all purchased retired pools. Further replacement valves, as well as pool repair kits, can be purchased from the BPIAB official store.
Retired pools can be purchased on their own for £50 inc shipping or their are other options if you wish for it to arrive with the accessories needed to inflate, fill and empty it.
We would strongly recommend that if the pool is being used for labour/birth a new BPIAB pool liner is purchased for hygiene purposes. A liner protects the pool and helps keep it dry/clean during use. A liner can be added on for a further £46 or can be purchased from the BPIAB UK store. Please be advised though all liners are intended for one use only and are not suitable for multiple use.
